Discussion guidelines

Comments on articles are for thoughtful, constructive technical discussion. These guidelines keep the threads useful and respectful.

  • Technical disagreement is welcome. Challenge assumptions, offer counterexamples, and share implementation experience.
  • Criticism should address ideas and implementations, not people.
  • Keep comments relevant to the article they are attached to.
  • Spam and unsolicited promotion are not allowed.
  • Harassment and personal attacks are not allowed.
  • Do not post confidential, proprietary, or otherwise sensitive information.
  • Threads may be moderated or locked, and comments that violate these guidelines may be removed.
  • GitHub accounts and discussions are public.

How comments work

Comments are provided by Giscus(opens in a new tab), which stores each article's discussion as a thread in GitHub Discussions(opens in a new tab). This site does not maintain a comments database of its own.

The comments widget is embedded from GitHub only on eligible article pages. It is loaded when you scroll near the discussion section and is never loaded on listing, tag, or search pages. Loading the widget embeds external content hosted by GitHub.

Participating requires a GitHub account. Comments and reactions are public and are subject to GitHub's terms and privacy practices(opens in a new tab), which this site does not control.
